Football – Offensive Strategy

The game of football is like a war between two generals, each one trying to out think the other. Bill Belichick is said to be one of the greatest defensive strategists of modern times while Mike Martz has a reputation for being an offensive wizard. In this article we’re going to discuss some basic football strategies and how offensive coordinators and head coaches try to out think the opposing defense.

The main thing that an offensive coordinator or head coach tries to do is play to the team’s strength when running an offense. Not every team is blessed with great running backs, a great quarterback and great receivers. The truth is, many of the weaker teams have very few great players, if any at all. However, regardless of how strong or weak your offense is, you’re going to have areas that are better than others. You need to concentrate on those areas and make the best of them.

For example, if your quarterback is your strongest part of the offense, even if you don’t have the best receivers, use him to his fullest. Maybe he’s got an uncanny ability to find open men quickly. In that case you’ll want to concentrate on your pass game. But, you have to evaluate your offensive line. If your blockers are poor or just average, your quarterback may not have enough time to pull off long passes, unless he is a quick scrambler. In this case you’ll want to execute a short passing game. Maybe some quick outs to your tight ends or even your backs.

However, if you continually concentrate on one part of your offense, eventually the opposition is going to catch on and they’ll adjust and be ready for you. This is why you ultimately have to establish a run game if you’re strong in passing or a passing game if you’re strong on running. You must have a balanced attack or your strengths will be shut down quickly.

Another thing an offensive coordinator must do is mix up his game plan. A few times on short yardage situations he should choose a short pass over trying to run the ball. This will keep the defense off balance and guessing. You don’t want to do this too often as again, they will begin to look for it. Same thing with long yardage plays. Occasionally you may want to sneak in a run play or maybe a reverse.

Some of the greatest plays in Super Bowl history have been trick or surprise plays. They don’t always work but when they do they are a sight to behold. They are certainly some of the most exciting plays to watch. Of course to be able to pull off these plays you have to have players who are capable of doing it. X’s and O’s on paper are one thing, but having players who can execute those X’s and O’s is a completely different subject.

This is why a good offensive coordinator is worth his weight in gold. Just ask Mike Martz if he’s had a successful career in football.

The American Institution of Baseball Uniforms

Something happens inside anyone who puts on a baseball uniform. No matter your age, you feel youthful. No matter your occupation, you become a player. No matter your skill, you feel as if just wearing that uniform will allow you to transcend the status quo and transform to a spiritual awareness that is simple and true.

You can win. You are donned in the garb of the greatest sport on the planet. A sport fueled by the drive and ambition and determination that is at the heart of every American, those qualities that define this great country and all that it stands for: freedom, success, liberty and independence. Few other sports are characterized by how they emphasis the skill of the individual player.

It is team, but it is solo. Only you are at bat. Only you can hit the ball and make a play happen. You have your number. It is your uniform. You make the play. By far the most interesting aspect of baseball uniforms as this great American past time has evolved is the socks. Each team’s identity was distinguished by the stocking colors, and the names usually followed suit.

Emblems on the socks were an additional symbol, but were not significant as they are today. The press was the source responsible for the use of nicknames for the different ball clubs, and they were consistently inconsistent. In 1901, the Detroit Tigers established the first constant display of an emblem by placing a small red tiger on the black, wool caps that spurted a trend of fans wanting to acquire a genuine Tiger cap, a rage that lives on even today!

CCNA / CCNP Home Lab Tutorial: The VLAN.DAT File

CCNA and CCNP candidates who have their own Cisco home labs often email me about an odd situation that occurs when they erase a switch’s configuration. Their startup configuration is gone, as they expect, but the VLAN and VTP information is still there!

Sounds strange, doesn’t it? Let’s look at an example. On SW1, we run show vlan brief and see in this abbreviated output that there are three additional vlans in use:

SW1#show vlan br

10 VLAN0010 active

20 VLAN0020 active

30 VLAN0030 active

We want to totally erase the router’s startup configuration, so we use the write erase command, confirm it, and reload without saving the running config:

SW1#write erase

Erasing the nvram filesystem will remove all configuration files! Continue?

[confirm]

[OK]

Erase of nvram: complete

00:06:00: %SYS-7-NV_BLOCK_INIT: Initalized the geometry of nvram

SW1#reload

System configuration has been modified. Save? [yes/no]: n

Proceed with reload? [confirm]

The router reloads, and after exiting setup mode, we run show vlan brief again. And even though the startup configuration was erased, the vlans are still there!

Switch#show vlan br

10 VLAN0010 active

20 VLAN0020 active

30 VLAN0030 active

The reason is that this vlan and VTP information is actually kept in the VLAN.DAT file in Flash memory, and the contents of Flash are kept on a reload. The file has to be deleted manually.

There’s a little trick to deleting this file. The switch will prompt you twice to ask if you really want to get rid of this file. Don’t type “y” or “yes”; just accept the defaults by hitting the return key. If you type “y”, the router attempts to delete a file named “y”, as shown here:

Switch#delete vlan.dat

Delete filename [vlan.dat]? y

Delete flash:y? [confirm]

%Error deleting flash:y (No such file or directory)

Switch#delete vlan.dat

Delete filename [vlan.dat]?

Delete flash:vlan.dat? [confirm]

Switch#

The best way to prepare for CCNA and CCNP exam success is by working on real Cisco equipment, and by performing lab tasks over and over. Repetition is the mother of skill, and by truly erasing your VLAN and VTP information by deleting the vlan.dat file from Flash, you’ll be building your Cisco skills to the point where your CCNA and CCNP exam success is a certainty.

A Brea California advocate won from a lawfirm in Coral Springs Florida

As long as the adverse action is based on reasonable factors other than age. For example it would not be illegal to consider criteria for a particular role in a movie that has a disparate impact on age if the part calls for someone of a particular age. Twenty-eight of those 52 employees sued under the ADEA claiming Knolls illegally fired them because of their age. It then used those totals to decide who to lay off. It has the burden to prove that its decision was based on a reasonable factor other than age. The company had its supervisors rate their subordinates based on their performance flexibility and critical skills. At the trial a jury found Knolls had violated the ADEA because its layoff procedure had a disparate impact based on age. In Meacham Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory was planning to lay off a number of employees. Thirty of the 62 salaried employees the company laid off were at least 37 years old. The BFOQ defense states that it is not unlawful for an employer to take adverse employment actions otherwise prohibited by the ADEA where age is a bona fide occupational qualification reasonably necessary to the normal operation of the particular business. Specifically the jury found that although the plaintiffs did not prove that Knolls intentionally discriminated against them they did prove that Knolls method of deciding who to lay off disproportionately harmed older workers. The Supreme Court then agreed to hear the case and eventually reversed the Second Circuit and reinstated the jurys finding that Knolls policy unlawfully discriminated because of age. Knolls totaled those scores and gave the employees additional points based on their years of service. The Supreme Court has previously recognized that the employer has the burden to establish the BFOQ affirmative defense. In that case Meacham versus Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory the Supreme Court interpreted a provision of the ADEA that permits an employer to take an adverse employment action against an employee. In other words the ADEA permits employers to discriminate based on age considering age is legitimately necessary under the circumstances. The Supreme Court ruled that if an employer seeks to rely on that defense. The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit initially affirmed the jurys findings but after the United States Supreme Court asked it to reconsider the Second Circuit reversed itself and ruled in favor of Knolls. In reaching its conclusion that the employer has the burden to prove the reasonable factors other than age defense the Supreme Court looked at another provision of the ADEA the bona fide occupational qualification defense. Even if the employment action is otherwise prohibited by the ADEA. A lawyer from Doesburg won from a attorney in Chesapeake Virginia

Cheap Paintball Gun – Buying a Paintball Gun Package

What is a paintball gun package?

When looking for a cheap paintball gun, you may come across gun packages (player kits). These are offered either by paintball gun manufacturers, or a paintball gun shops or dealers, and they purport to give you all you will need to get you onto the playing field.

Typically you might get the following in a paintball gun package: a paintball gun (known as a marker), a mask, an air tank, a hopper, a barrel plug and perhaps some accessories, o-rings, paintball gun oil, and some paint balls. On the face of it, this would be a pretty good looking paintball gun package.

Paintball gun package – advantages

The main advantage is value for money. Buying all the items in the package separately will definitely cost you more.

If you are on a very tight budget, and you are not overly choosey, then a paintball gun package might be your only way of getting all that you need. On the other hand, you may have budgeted to buy everything separately, and buying the package could now free up funds for other things (but see below on the perils of cutting corners).

The last advantage is convenience. You get all the buying over and done with in one go.

Paintball gun package – disadvantages

The main disadvantage with packages is that in most cases, you do not actually want all of the items that you are buying! For example, in most packages the hopper you will get will be a traditional gravity feed. With a traditional gravity feed hopper your gun will never be able to fire more than 11 balls per second (BPS). However, if you are buying a gun with a BPS of more than 11, then only an electro hopper will ensure a feed to take full advantage of the fast shooting rate. Using a gravity-fed hopper will just retard performance.

Similarly, the air tank offered in the package might typically be a small carbon dioxide (CO2) tank. If you are looking for a nitro or high pressure air (HPA) tank, or a bigger CO2 tank, then the package tank may not be of any use to you.

Packages represent compromise, and for some of us compromise is not easy to swallow. If you are one of those people, then maybe you should delay your purchase, find some more funds for the budget, and then go out and buy the products you really want. In the long run you will be happier, and we are all in paintball for the fun of it.

Further, I think there are two items over which you should not compromise: the mask and the paintball gun. A good cheap paintball gun should be durable, reliable, give good performance, and be easy to maintain. A good mask should be comfortable and non-fogging. These are crucial bits of equipment upon which you should not cut corners. Do thorough research and identify a good cheap paintball gun and mask, and if the mask and the gun in the package are not the products you want, then my advice would be not to buy the package.

The other disadvantage of packages is inflexibility. A packages sold by a manufacturer is sold as a single products – you either take it or leave it. However, there may be some flexibility in dealer packages, which are just the latest deal put together by a shop. You may be able to convince the dealer to swap some of the items in the package (though probably not all, unless you pay more) for gear you really do want. If you can get the gun and the mask you want, you might be prepared to put up with the other items. Or maybe you could offer to pay a little more for an upgraded package more to your choosing. A bit of ‘dealer wheeling’ is what is needed here. Then you could find that you are properly kitted out and on the paintball field at a bargain price.

So, you have created a web site about a subject that you are passionate about; and you are proud of the look and feel of the site. Now what? How is this web site going to generate the traffic you are looking for and earn its keep?

No matter what your website focuses on (management, goal setting, dog training, ice skating, computer programming, arts & entertainment, home & garden, humor, etc.) your whole purpose of building it was to reach a target audience. If you are selling a product or a service, you want as many people to visit your site as possible to increase your sales opportunities. Adding content regularly to your web site and adding new pages each week is the key to success. New content attracts Search Engine Spiders (the key to being picked up and listed by search engines). These Spiders love sites with many pages. Sites with a lot of pages are viewed as being stronger authorities on the specific subject matter. Now, this can not be any old content. You will need to produce informative, useful, relevant material to post on your site. Does it sound like a ton of work? Well, let me tell you a secret that will let you work smarter rather than harder.

The Fish Tank

The Fish Tank of Miami, the premiere Aqua Marine organization in the NFL has gone AWOL. They are choosing the wrong types of players for their team. Last year it was Ricky “The Hemp Williams” who left the Dolphins in 2004 to pursue a life of marijuana smoking.

Williams later had a change of heart and asked to return to the Dolphins. The Dolphins agreed. Shame on the Dolphins. Why would they take a chance with a proven pot head?

Williams allegedly tested positive for a drug other then marijuana recently according league sources (ESPN.com).
Well that wasn’t a huge shock.

Now the Fish Tank traded for another damaged good. Yes folks, his name is Dante “Captain of the Seas” Culpepper. Dante started the 2005 season in terrible fashion. He played terribly and made rookie like mistakes.
Then the “Captain” took part in the infamous Cruisegate scandal. If that wasn’t enough he tore his knee in four places and had to sit out the remainder of the 2005 season.

The Vikings actually started winning without the “Captain” Why would the Dolphins take a chance on a mediocre quarterback who is coming off a severe knee injury?
The only thing I can come up with is that the Fish Tank loves degenerates. I guess they feel that he would be a good compliment for the “Hemp”.

Ricky Williams can provide the weed and Culpepper can provide the lap dances. That will surely put a smile on all the Dolphins faces. This organization is looking more like the Betty Ford Clinic then an NFL franchise.

I think the only thing missing from their lineup is Terrell “Terribly Obnoxious” Owens.
Terrell has a poor work ethic, hates authority and believes that the world owes him something. T.O. would find a happy home in Miami and have at least two more degenerates to hang out with.

The Fish Tank used to be a respected organization. Remember the days of Dan Marino and Don Shula? Those were the days. Now the Dolphins have become the brokers of unwanted laundry type players that other NFL teams have given up on.

The Dolphins have become a joke in my opinion. They lack class and dignity and I’m questioning if they even have self respect. It’s never too late for an organization to change. We’ll have to see if the Dolphins have the desire to be a respectful NFL organization again.

Pastimes Betters Enjoy Playing: a Beginners Guide to Betting Room Gambling

Supposing you have not grasped gambling saloon card-playing, then feel free to read on.

Most commonly a gaming establishment is a house that features gaming. Guests are invited to enjoy themselves by having a bash at slot-machines or trying out plenty of other pastimes. Gambling house games may include mathematically determined probabilities built in that guarantee the gambling establishment keeps hold of an interest over the gamesters.

Frequently betting saloon games can sway you into getting overly dependent in no time. An example is the simple 1-armed-bandit, an electronic contraption with three, sometimes more cogs which spin if a handle attached to it is pushed. This gadget as a rule returns referring to a run of images presented on the dials on the appliance. Disastrously, betting room games suggest a mirage of having the upper hand, thereby hoodwinking the gambling enthusiast — the addressee is presented with choices, but they will not realistically match up the player’s statistical negative odds. This is induced by the betting saloon never paying up the full wager as expected. This systematic process can often be noticeable in acclaimed casino games like Texas hold’em poker, craps, roulette or blackjack.

Five-card stud poker is indeed an incredibly trendy casino game. The players, closely guarding their fully screened hands, place stakes in a principal pot which is ultimately bestowed onto the winning gamester controlling the leading hand. (Of course, the shameless bluffing hand may well prevail)

no deposit required casinos

Comparable to five-card stud poker, blackjack too is a very popular casino pastime. A substantial amount of its acclaim is thanks to its particular mix of chance and cleverness and decision making, not to mention a system titled Card Counting. It is a craft by which gaming devotees are in a position to dramatically reverse the odds of the game to give them the upper hand both by wagering and tactical decisions in accordance with the cards dealt.

“Craps” is yet another very popular wagering game making use of the roll of two dice. Customers may place bets on the result of 1 spin, or on a succession of rolls on two dice. In contrast to blackjack, there’s absolutely no probable bona fide winning betting system players can cash in on to beat the odds.

Roulette is an extremely popular casino based game of chance: a croupier twists a roulette wheel holding a set of exactly thirty-seven (European roulette) or precisely thirtyeight (Vegas roulette) separately numbered chambers in which the white ball will finally settle, which defines the final winning number and the attached combinations. Now if a participant wagers on a single number which makes it meaning it’s their lucky day, the set accolade is going to be thirty-five to 1, the original bet being returned. Accordingly in totality it is multiplied by a factor of 36.
